This is one of the nicest examples of post-war Satsuma we have seen. We believe it to be late Showa period, however, Sotheby's sold it as Meiji Period in their London sale of November 10, 2005 (sale #LO 5216 Chinese and Japanese Works of Art- part 2.) It was lot number 1156 from that sale. The title cartouche reads, "Shinsen Edo Meisho". The subtitle reads, "Yukibare no zu" (clear weather after the snow) and it is signed Sozan on the reverse side. The detail work on this item was hard to capture with the camera, but it is quite fine. There is some minor gold wear on the handle, but otherwise the condition is excellent. It dates about 1890 and measures 3" x 3".

This is a richly decorated late 19th century Imari platter in the form of a chrysanthemum flower. There is some wear to the gold around the rim, but the enamel is intact.
