The color of this beautiful vase transitions from lighter at the bottom to a richer blue/grey at the top. It is decorated with a fully blossomed white rose and other budding roses in relief. It is fairly large, measuring 11" x 6.5" at the widest point. It is in excellent condition, less the need for a cleaning. Meiji Period, about 1910.

The central theme of this charger is a celebration of Boys Day. There are a plethora of children engaged in many different games and activities. There is some mild handling wear to the gilt and numerous minor original defects to the surface on the reverse side, but the overall condition and presentation are excellent. This is a lovely example of Nishiura Enji's work at reasonable price point. It has a floral motif over a neutral ground that gently fades near the bottom. The inner rim has a beautiful and unusual lavender color. The underside shows a Nishiura Enji V seal and it measures 5" x 2.25". It dates about 1900 - 1910 and is in excellent condition with the remnants of an original label on the body.
