The interior of this bowl has an amazing pattern of 100's of cranes, in a spiraling pinwheel type pattern. The exterior shows well enameled flowers executed with somewhat more artistic restraint. The condition is excellent with few signs of handling wear. It is artist signed and dates about 1900. It measures 5.25" x 2.25".
This bowl is almost entirely covered with gold and enamel work. There are an assortment of medallions each with its own motif, surrounded by foliate, geometric and brocade reserves. It is in excellent condition with little to no wear and dates about 1890 - 1900. It measures 5" x 2 1/4".
The brush strokes on the leaves are bold and thick, yet upon close inspection there are finely detailed lines in the iris petals, giving it a delicate touch. We have seen this motif often on plates, however, the enamel work was never as interesting. The restrained use of gold really allows the enameling to stand out. The condition is excellent and it measures 9.9" x 6". It dates about 1890 - 1900.
This is a nicely detailed hexagonal form koro or incense burner with fine reticulation in the cover. Both the top side and interior of the cover are reticulated with fine cut out work. The overall condition is excellent with minimal signs of wear and no damages. It fits nicely in cabinet, but is large enough to make a statement with dimensions of 4.75" x 4.75". It dates about 1900.
The band of figures wraps entirely around the vase and it appears depict a Boys' Day procession. There are beautiful reserves on both the upper and lower portions of the vase with the unusual use of white enamel over the gold on top. It is signed Kaburagi kin sei, a kiln more closely related to Kutani, yet the style is definitely Satsuma and the blank is earthenware. It dates about 1880 - 1890 and it measures 3.5" x 2". There is a lot to look at in this bowl. Aside from the beautiful gold application there is minute enameling hidden throughout the interior scene. The exterior of the bowl contrasts the interior with soft shibui colors and more restrained decoration. It measures 6.2" x 2.25" and dates about 1880 - 1890. There is some age appropriate wear to the rim gilt, but the overall condition is very good.
This is a finely decorated with beautiful execution in both scenes and the reserves. Ranzan was not a prolific artist, but the pieces we have seen are typified by the thick style of gold application on this vase. It measures 5.9" x 2.9" and the condition is excellent. It dates about 1890.

This is a nicely decorated Satsuma kogo in a rectangular form with mitered corners. It measures 3.3" x 2.2" x 1". There are two tiny flakes on the inner rim, but they are insignificant and the overall condition is very good. It dates about 1900 - 1910.
