Japanese cloisonne vase by Ando Catalogue: Vintage Arts: Regional Art: Asian: Japanese: Enamel: Pre 1950   item# 881710  click for details The Ivory Tower, Inc. tel.201-670-6191 $1650  This is a nicely decorated cloisonne vase. Although not signed, the form and decoration are certainly that of the Ando studio. It is in mint condition and measures 10.5" x 4.75". It dates about 1930 - 1950. We believe it to be late Showa period, however, Sotheby's sold it as Meiji Period in their London sale of November 10, 2005 (sale #LO 5216 Chinese and Japanese Works of Art- part 2.) It was lot number 1156 from that sale. The title cartouche reads, "Shinsen Edo Meisho". The subtitle reads, "Yukibare no zu" (clear weather after the snow) and it is signed Sozan on the reverse side.
