This is a late Meiji/early Taisho Period Satsuma fish form plate, inspired by the same form which was seen much earlier in Imari. It is beautifully decorated with a lively enameled milfluer design. The mark of Koshida is on the reverse side. It dates about 1915 - 1920 and measures 9.25" x 6". The condition is excellent.
This is an example of Yabu's elegant, more restrained work that he did later in his career. The simplicity by no means detracts from the piece and in fact, it is quite compelling. It measures 2.75" in diameter x .9" in height and dates about 1920. The condition is excellent.
A subtlety elegant Awaji pottery vase with incised iris designs over a softly mottled blue ground, from the late Meiji or early Taisho period. It measures 3 5/8" H x 4 5/8" wide and is in excellent condition. Plover mark on underside.
This is an unusual squat form urn by Yabu Meizan, done entirely in Tiffany blue. It sit elegantly on three legs and is in excellent condition, although I'm suspect as to the cover's originality. It measures 5" in diameter x 3" in height, inclusive of the cover and bears the seal of Yabu Meizan in gilt on the underside. It dates about 1910 - 1920.
This delicately painted four panel koro has alternating scenes that contrast between figural motifs and nature motifs. The top has intense floral designs with heart shaped vents and a chrysanthemum form finial. It measures 3.5" x 2.4" and the condition is excellent. It dates about 1900 - 1910.
This lovely miniature bowl is in pristine condition, with no repairs, restorations or retouching of the gilt work. The exterior is decorated with children engaged in a variety of pursuits, including a wonderful scene in which they are watching an artist paint. The interior shows loosely scattered butterflies in the center, surrounded by finely enameled draping wisteria. It measures 2 5/8" across by 1 3/4" in height and dates about 1900 - 1910.
This is a finely detailed example of Japanese Satsuma earthenware, attributed to the Kinkozan studio. Each panel was decorated with painstaking detail and the reserves show equal attention to detail. Other than some very slight handling wear on the rim, the vase is in excellent condition and dates about 1900 - 1910. It measures 7" x 4".
This is one of the largest versions of Kinkozan's mottled glaze style that we have seen and the only one that combines it with a tree bark colored neck.The body is decorated with assorted floral designs in gilt. It measures 12" in height x 6.25" at the widest point on the body. The condition is excellent and it dates about 1900 - 1915.
An example of a more restrained and serene piece of Satsuma, this plate has many subtle details such as moss growing on the tree trunks, broken limbs and a dog quietly following oxen in the background. It measures 8.5" in diameter and dates about 1900 - 1915.

The motif of this vase is quite unusual with a farmer working a water wheel in a mountainous rural setting. It is a larger vase by Yabu Meizan standards, measuring 7.25" x 4". It bears a Yabu Meizan gilt-on-gilt seal on the underside and dates about 1900 - 1910. Very good overall condition.
A wonderful four panel, cobalt ground koro with each panel showing garden scenes. The cover has a sculpted floral form finial. The underside shows the Kinkozan seal in gilt. It measures 5.5" x 5.75" and dates about 1900. The condition is excellent.
This a beautiful cubicle box and probably one of the smallest pieces by Ryozan that we have offered. It is a gem, in excellent condition with the only visible wear being on the underside seal. This was likely the result of the a price tag applied over the mark. It measures 2.25" in height x 2.50 diagonally across. On the underside there is a the seal of Ryozan and the Yasuda studio. Circa is about 1900.
This vase has the interesting combination of a cobalt ground on the neck and a teal ground on the body, divided by a draped shoulder. One panel depicts the Boys Day Festival and the other shows Chinese beauties in full attire. This item was formerly of the Walter and Edith Haas collection. It measures 8.5" x 7", dates about 1900 and bears a Kinkozan zo impressed seal. No chips or restoration.
The mottled pink ground color on this Kinkozan vase is one of the more unusual colors we have seen used. The gilt on the elegantly intertwined dragons is beautifully applied and is entirely intact, with no wear visible. Other than some very minor wear on the lip, the condition is excellent. The dimensions are 5.9" x 2.2" and it dates about 1900 - 1910.
The artwork is quite fine on this vase and the gold is applied in classic Meizan style, as are the geometric reserves. However, it is signed Juzan. The condition is perfect with no visible signs of wear and no restorations. The dimensions are 6.5" x 3.5" and it dates near 1880.
This vase is decorated with a continuous scene of a large crowd gathering at a kabuki theater, all in excellent detail. It measures 5" x 1.8" and is in very good condition, with only some minor gilt wear. Gilt Seikozan seal on underside. Circa 1890.
This urn is a rare form by Yabu and is finely decorated with a continuous daimyo procession that follows entirely around the body. The enameled floral designs and finial sculpting are executed in excellent detail. One of the handles has been restored and can be seen upon close inspection of the images. However, it is not noticeable without a good amount of scrutiny and does not impact the body of the piece at all. We have priced this item accordingly...
The cover of this box shows a nicely decorated scene with samurai heading into battle. The interior scene contrasts the battle with depictions of geisha of children enjoying the cherry blossoms. It is signed Houzan on the underside and the dimensions are 4.6" x 3.25" x 1.5". The condition is very good, save some minor surface losses on the interior rim of the cover.
